Counter-Surveillance | Anti-Bugging Luxembourg and Trier

Kurtz Detective Agency Trier and Luxembourg operates with its own department for counter-surveillance and the detection of listening devices. These areas are further divided into “classic” eavesdropping methods such as microphones and surveillance cameras, and computer-based data espionage – IT forensics and IT security. For all these fields, our detectives from Trier have nationally and in some cases internationally recognised specialists who will be pleased to assist you with data protection: +49 651 2094 0060.

Espionage: As Relevant Today As During the Cold War

Protection against eavesdropping measures is protection against espionage and the theft of secrets, the safeguarding of sensitive data, intellectual property and economically relevant company information. At the latest, the numerous scandals in recent years surrounding various intelligence services such as Federal Intelligence Service and National Security Agency have made the wider public aware of the continuing relevance of eavesdropping and espionage.

Twenty-five years after the end of the Cold War, the methods and objectives of data surveillance have certainly changed, yet a reduction in eavesdropping activities has in all probability not taken place – quite the opposite. Not only have attack techniques undergone technological transformation, but today there are also new targets and new attackers. In addition to the formerly predominant intergovernmental espionage conducted by state authorities, there are now domestic (industrial espionage) and continuing cross-border (economic espionage) acts carried out by corporations seeking to gain easy access to the technologies and knowledge of their competitors.

Costs of Professional Counter-Surveillance in Trier and Luxembourg

Our highly trained counter-surveillance specialists at Kurtz Investigations Trier and Luxembourg examine suspected bugged rooms, buildings or vehicles centimetre by centimetre. We put an end to unfair competitive practices. After completing our analysis and removing all unwanted surveillance technology, we are pleased to assist you with advice and practical support in improving your defensive measures.

As professional counter-surveillance involves considerable technical effort, our usual fee calculations do not apply in this case. Professional Technical Surveillance Counter-Measures (TSCM) is a highly complex technical activity that requires extensive expertise and considerable financial investment in purchasing and maintaining the necessary equipment. The acquisition costs for the technical equipment used by a fully equipped counter-surveillance team are in the six-figure range. Across the entire DACH region, only around a handful of professional TSCM teams remain that operate to a standard comparable with that of public authorities. As a result, booking lead times are generally several weeks, and the costs of engaging such services are higher than commonly assumed.

Examples of fees as cost guidance for our technical surveillance counter-measures examinations:

  • comprehensive TSCM examination of a motor vehicle, including software: from €3,800.00

  • comprehensive TSCM examination of residential and commercial premises: from €4,000.00

  • reduced TSCM (private-client standard) of a motor vehicle: €2,000.00

  • reduced TSCM (private-client standard) of residential/commercial premises: from €2,200.00

For domestic assignments, the advance payment is 70% of the total costs, and for assignments abroad, it is 100%.
